These wonderful British-designed silk squares are real works of art and are available online here and at various stockists (including the Tate shop) in a variety of sizes (the pocket squares are 45cm square). A fun alternative to the usual polka dot or paisley-design pocket square.
Age of Reason: deliciously naughty pocket squares - Made in Britain
Sunday, 14 October 2012
Browsing round the Best of Britannia exhibition recently I came across Ali Mapletoft and her Age of Reason silk scarves and pocket squares. Each is designed by Ali using coloured inks on watercolour paper. These images are then transferred to high quality silk and each piece is finished by a skilled seamstress. The designs are striking and all have more than a little humour, mischief and, some, a naughty (but nice) streak.

DeleteWell - perhaps I just prefer my smutty drawings on the top shelf, rather than in the top pocket.
DeleteI think You've Got it Grey Fox...It is all about the different, quirky, odd and wonderful, with a bit of whimsy that makes a person's look individual. The details are the things that become Eye Candy. You can wear an all black outfit or the most neutral of colors, but with a few choice accessories, the ho-hum is now stylish.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love them!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely love this.
ReplyDeleteLove this!
ReplyDeleteReminds me of old Vivienne Westwood designs. Only naughtier. And possibly nicer.
ReplyDeleteThese squares are simply The Right Answer!
