Orange - Grey Fox unpeels THE colour for Autumn

Saturday, 14 September 2013

Men are now more willing to use colour in their wardrobes, whether in bright blocks or, more discretely, by showing small splashes in socks, ties or pocket squares. Orange, formerly the colour of choice of oil rig and railway workers and health and safety inspectors, is now available in a wide selection of hues for us all to enjoy and is seen in many of this autumn/winter menswear collections.

Sweater Musto - socks Marko John's. What do you think? (With apologies to that wonderful and talented stylist Sarah Gilfillan of Sartoria Lab who bears no responsibility for this post at all).

The jumper looks good. Why not try it with a brown tweed jacket or perhaps a navy pea coat.

That jumper would look even better with a pink shirt.

I'm a big fan of orange and have a nice one form m&s. Wouldn't wear it with matching socks myself though, I'd have gone for green or stripes. Looks great though.

    Excellent
Been wearing loud socks all my working life.

Have a cracking pair of cashmere in orange picked up in 2006.
So that's todays sock choice sorted

Orange has long been a staple in my wardrobe (along with purple, and my two favourite colours, blue and brown). It's a great Fall colour, suggesting warmth when none is available, and even altering one's skin tone in different kinds of light.
Most of the orange in my wardrobe is in the form of sweaters, shirts (stripe and checks with other colours sometimes) and ties, but I have a couple of pairs of socks, I just bought an orange belt this summer and have a prized pair of the softest leather dress Hermes mens gloves. I can go through our Canadian Fall, Winter and Spring with this colour so it goes a long way here.
