Shoes for Spring & Summer: A Private White V.C. x Grenson collaboration

Saturday, 18 April 2015

Private White V.C. and Grenson have collaborated to produce a small collection of men's shoes for spring/summer. All are made in Northampton and are Goodyear-welted.

The olive green canvas derby has a rubber sole attached to a leather through and sports characteristic PWVC copper eyelets (pictured below).

The other shoe (below) comes in two shades of brown/tan perforated suede (why do I think tea-bags here?). They come with light Vibram rubber soles and I love them.

The collection is designed to be lightweight and cool for summer while looking both stylish and comfortable. Ideal as an alternative to my sometimes-too-warm leather shoes.

Go to Private White V.C. for more information and to buy. They are priced at £325 to £350.

    Hi
I've enjoyed the evolution of your blog. But, I feel that the content has started to become commercialy driven.
I have started to understand your style, and I don't think that you would wear any of the shoes in this post.
They are ugly, shapeless and definately not stylish. The opposite of stylish Dad shoes. Perhaps more Granda comfy?

Thanks Andy - interesting comments, I'm grateful.

I don't receive anything for the majority of posts - sometimes a free garment, but that is unusual.

I do now receive a very small income from advertising which I am saving to revamp the blog. These adverts have no influence on what I feature on the blog, which remains what I like. I have tried these shoes on and they are classic Northampton-made derbies made to be cooler in summer. I am considering buying the green canvas pair. Take a look when next near PWVC - as is often the case, things look quite different in the flesh.

    I hope that helps.

    Best wishes
    GF

Another point Andy is that you may find I start to wear more clothes that I wouldn't select for myself. This is partly because I want to expand my horizons, partly because I want to show others the possibilities, recognising that we have different tastes. This goes with my taking part in photo shoots to counter the refusal of the menswear industry to use older models.

Sorry to go on - it helps me to consolidate my thinking so I'm grateful for your thoughts.

    GF

Thanks for your reply, and keep up with the made in UK campaign.
I'll keep coming back, don't worry....

I'll keep coming back too. I wouldn't wear everything you highlight on your blog but I've tested many things after seeing them here and the vast majority have worked out well for me. Please keep educating and challenging us. Even if your readers don't like it all, we're much the richer for your efforts.
