The New Year brings opportunities for reflection and planning. The blog has existed for just over five years and it's time to reestablish its focus, so I'll be concentrating on three themes in 2017:
1. I want to reinforce the basic message of this blog: that older men can enjoy and benefit from dressing well in their personal and private lives. The blog is here to provide ideas and inspiration fuelled by my own search for sartorial success.
2. I will very gradually extend the search for style beyond clothes and accessories to lifestyle products and experiences; travel, food and drink, watches and men's toys generally.
3. I've now accepted that this blog can never be a comprehensive review. My time is limited so I will now focus on brands whose products I like and with whom I can work collaboratively to pursue the aims of Grey Fox Blog.
To start off the year I'm planning a series of video interviews that will bring you ideas and inspiration from men and women whose expertise and/or personal style will ease you on your way on your own journey towards style. Many are well-known names, others less famous. Hopefully everything will flow from there!
As ever, please keep in touch - ideas and suggestions are gratefully received.

I look forward to reading more as you expand your scope, David!
ReplyDeleteCharity shop finds should always be part of your blog. I've liked those posts, over the years.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year!

Thank you Andy and for your support.

Grey Fox,
ReplyDeleteWhich ever way you decide to go I am sure your blog will continue to be both informative and interesting. I wish you continued success with it.

Hi. I'm a long time reader. Could you please remind me where you bought both the jacket and the coat in the two pictures above?
ReplyDeleteThanks
As I (like many people) have a limited budget I like it that you are refocusing on the style element of your blog. I particularly like it when you provide advice on new ways to wear my existing wardrobe. Keep up the good work.
ReplyDeleteHi, I like your blog and read it from time to time, but please don't start with the lifestyle stuff, all bloggers do that and it feels just like more product placement.
ReplyDeleteI am a regular US reader, and I frequently make purchases based on your recommendations. That said, my preferences run to clothing and style, less so to travel, lifestyle, etc. I will of course continue to come here, but I hope you don't de-emphasize clothes and accessories---I find your recommendaitons and mentions so helpful!
ReplyDeleteThank you snapper!
ReplyDeleteAnon - I borrowed them for a photoshoot and after wracking my brains have to say I simply can't recall what brand they were; sorry.
Andy: many thanks. Yes, I agree and have plans to do more of those - we really don't need huge wardrobes full of clothes when we can explore how to wear what we have already.
Richard and Thomas, many thanks. I'm really thinking of lifestyle alongside the clothes. All together add up to style, so if I can display some dapper menswear in the context of a car, whisky or good meal, I will do that. Occasional product placement is needed to help me with the costs of this blog, but you can be sure I only work with brands and products I like. I have turned away more than I've accepted in pursuit of this aim.
Thank you all - such feedback helps me tweak my priorities - I do this for you, the readers.

Hi. I left the comment asking about where the jacket and coat had come from. I completely forgot to compliment you on what a great job you're doing. I wouldn't wear everything that you do, but you've broadened my horizons. Your photos of the peacocks in Florence are fascinating.
ReplyDeleteThanks very much Anon for the additional comment - much appreciated. Many people wouldn't wear much of what appears here - and I wouldn't wear all of it - the idea is to give ideas and inspiration to help us clarify our own preferences. Thank heavens we don't all like the same things!
