To remind you, I have set out on a very personal mission to explore style and fashion for the older man - in middle age and after. To my delight the blog welcomed its 1000th visitor last night; a landmark only some seven weeks after the first post at the beginning of December last year. It's really cheered me up at a time when I'm holed up after my cycling accident earlier this week. I can't sit for long with the laptop at the moment so will ease up for a while, although I may post a few pieces I happened to prepare before the injury!
Many thanks to those visitors; I hope the blog will continue to grow. Many thanks also to The Sartorialist, who influenced this journey.

I just found your blog through your comment at An Affordable Wardrobe. I am 33 and beginning a similar journey myself. I am currently trying to assemble a more classic wardrobe with both English and American influences. I just finished reading through all of your entries and I quite enjoyed them. You have me convinced that a Fair Isle sweater should be my next purchase. Also, lots of tweed! Best of luck with you blog.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind comments; it's early days and I'm still developing a style and approach for the blog. Good luck with the journey, although, from my point of view, you don't have much to worry about at 33.
DeleteAs you say, the classic approach is best and I agree with a combination of English and American, with maybe a little Italian thrown in for fit and panache. Fair Isle = way to go!
Keep on blogging!
ReplyDeleteThanks - and you!
DeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeletefound your blog via TZ-UK.com. Loving it! Bought a 'tweedy' jacket at the weekend and I'm on the lookout for just the right hat. I need guidance on colour combinations I suppose as I have no eye for what goes with what, but I am learning through following some of your links.
Keep up the good work and get well soon.
Cheers

Good to see a TZ friend here and thanks for your kind comments. Good luck with your search for style. The great thing about tweed is that, if you look carefully, it usually contains many colours, any of which can be picked out to match hat, tie, sweater, socks or whatever.

Hello,
ReplyDeleteI am a 24 year old graduate student. Although your blog is about "searching for style into middle age and beyond" I find it to be a very good read. I really like the photographs that you have put up of yourself. Congratulations on your 1000th visit. I hope to see many more photographs in times to come.
Best wishes,
Parth
Thanks for your comment, Parth. It's good to know you've enjoyed reading the blog. GF
