Grey Fox arrives on board Grey Fox to give his speech to the board and shareholders of Grey Fox International |
[Spoon bangs on table]
Ahem! Twelve months ago I tentatively put pen to paper to describe my efforts to fill the vast vacuum that exists in the fashion world for clothes for men reaching middle age. I wasn't sure that the blog would last a month - let alone a year. Yet during this time we have appeared in the Times Style magazine and several other august, and less august, paper and online publications.
The blog now has over 500 followers on Twitter and has nearly reached 150,000 page views. This is small beer compared with some of the most popular blogs for men and women, although most of them have been around far longer. However, these figures far exceed any expectations I had in December last year.
I'm pleased that the blog has a real mix of readers, older and younger men, women trying to smarten up their partners and even fashion students studying that strange phenomenon, fashion and age. I'm am very grateful to you all - please keep returning and tell your friends. If you don't like what you see, tell me and make suggestions. If you like what you see, tell me.
If you're in the fashion industry, don't overlook the size and affluence of the older male market. We may not be as vociferous as women, but we demand high standards and better treatment than cheap-looking clothing aimed at lads in their twenties. If you feel you have something to offer this market, let me know and join the Grey Fox revolution.
Happy Birthday Grey Fox Blog. Here's to another year!

Congratulations. This is a great blog and I subscribed through google reader, I don't know if this shows up in the hits.
ReplyDeleteHi Dave,
ReplyDeletecongratulations. I have been reading your blog since you announced it on TZ-UK. It has been a big help in defining a way forward for me and has considerably smartened up my wardrobe.
Here's to another year.
Cheers
Gruntfuttock.
A warm congratulations to you. So happy to have a gent taking on the cause of middle-
ReplyDeleteaged style.
I really like what you're doing with this. Being nearer to 60 than 50, caring about my clothes, yet not wishing to dress like a teenager, I find it a challenging niche to address. Also, with a very tight budget, it is harder still. I'm not grumbling however. With blogs like yours, I've discovered some amazing small manufacturers and suppliers, but perhaps more importantly a source of ideas, innovation and inspiration. Do please keep at it.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks for the kind comments and best wishes. I'll keep plugging away for as long as I continue to enjoy it - and such encouragement helps and is much appreciated. GF.
