Running this blog costs me well into three figures annually, quite apart from the huge investment of time. I make no money from the blog and, at present, sell no advertising. To maintain independence, I don't ask for anything from the menswear brands I support. After much thought, and at the kind suggestion of a reader, I'm giving readers the opportunity, should they wish to do so, to contribute something towards these costs.
The last thing I want anyone to feel is an obligation here, but if you wish to do so there are two possibilities -
1. Buy one of the new Age of Reason/Grey Fox collaboration pocket squares. These are made in very limited numbers and Ali of Age of Reason is kindly contributing part of the takings to Grey Fox. See more about the collaboration below in yesterday's post. The squares can be purchased here - Grey Fox in Rust and Grey Fox in Blue.
Whether you're able to contribute or not, thank you very much for your support of this blog.

Hi Mr Fox
ReplyDeleteI was a bit taken aback by the request for financial support. Partly because, although recently discovering your blog, I immediately linked to my own Grey Fox and instructed a check out 'cos it's such a fab read and concept. I fully concur with your want for independence (and trust from your readers)but I would have hoped that financial reward would be gained from linked contributions in the media. Please excuse me if I am being totally ignorant here.
Hi Carrie - thank you for your lovely comment.
ReplyDeleteThis wasn't an easy post for me to write but the factors you mention were important to me.
Maybe I'm naive, but I don't know how linked contributions from the media would help - I do get offers of all sorts, but all contain links back to products of dubious quality or require some payback from me.
I'm really grateful for the support that has followed this post and will continue to provide independent editorial content. Adverts from large menswear companies of repute would be welcome as they would be quite separate from the editorial content, but so far larger companies have not offered to help in this way - not that I'm complaining.
We'll see how things go as Grey Fox grows - it's all very exciting.
