Huntergather at London Collections:Men - seventies revived

Monday, 12 January 2015

Huntergather's AW15 collection shows a strong seventies style brought up to date with coated fabrics and contemporary materials.

It's with some trepidation that I've been watching the rise of a seventies revival in fashion. Having lived through it the first time round, I'm interested that there should be a return to flares and bad hairstyles. However, here it is and some seventies-style collections are, from my viewpoint, more wearable than others. Huntergather's is nicely-designed and made and is classic enough for a man of any age or sartorial tastes.

There is a whole generation which has only read about the seventies or heard about them from their parents, but nostalgia is a strong driver of fashion. I doubt I'll be back into flares soon, but will happily eat my hat when in a couple of years I'm wearing them.

See Huntergather.

Please god, spare me from high-waist baggies, huge collared shirts and 'orrible flappy spaniel-ear feather haircuts again.

50's, 60's, even 80's revivals all present some very wearable looks for 2015 - but the 70's felt like comedy clothing time even as we lived through them! But weren't we all really skinny back then!
