Black.co.uk sell luxury gifts and accessories for men and women. Their products are sourced from the UK, Italy and further afield and are the highest quality: the softest leather, the most luxurious cashmere, the most opulent silk. Black kindly asked me to model some of their products; scarves, ties, gloves and pocket squares at a photo shoot at London's Little Venice, a quite area of canals in Paddington, West London. The light was superb, the shoot was fun, here are some of the results. For links, see below.

Fantastic photos! Love that reversible scarf... and the 'action shot' it's in :-)
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid to say the blog I first fell in love with has sold out to gratuitous advertising. No longer a search for style, more who will pay / give some freebies.
ReplyDeleteInevitable, and if I had your talent I would have done the shame. Bigger shame is where to go to find real life search for style
Thanks Lori.
ReplyDeleteThanks also to Anon for the anonymous comment. I'm sorry I haven't made clear enough what I'm doing here. I now have access to a far wider range of clothing and accessories to show to readers than when i started the blog and the shoots enable me to pass on product and styling ideas as I try out products.
I'd be interested to know what else you want from this blog.

Once again I'm going to come out in support. I enjoyed this and liked Blacks website and products as well as what you are doing. Yes its an advert but so what, it adds to the mix. We shouldn't judge the blog on one post, its the whole thing. I for one am better informed and dressed than I ever was.
ReplyDeleteGrey Fox,
ReplyDeleteThe comments from Anonymouse must be somewhat annoying for you.
Surely he has to realise it is a two way thing - unless you are extremely rich I doubt you would buy all the items you display and could list them as "the clothes I have bought" and the suppliers benefit from the fact that their items are being displayed in a realistic way and their sales could increase accordingly. Unless in the future you move into your own commercial venture and start trying to sell clothes under your own name brand label I see no major harm in you mentioning whos clothes you are writing about.
Best regards,
Snapper
Thanks very much Matt and Snapper.
ReplyDeleteSuch comments don't irritate me at all. I welcome any comments as my main aim is to keep this blog relevant and interesting. I am always wary, however, of anonymous comments that are simply negative without raising points in a way that can be considered and answered.
Anon may have a point, though. I'm always keen to keep this blog me and my search for style - so I need to be kept on that track.
The small income the blog now brings, and the occasional gifted or lent item, enable me to try out products I never could before. The photo shoots enable me to show clothes on an older man in a way that the brands seldom bother to do. If Anon or anyone has any ideas how I can better do this, please just let me know.
Thanks to all for your comments.
