I'd like to wish everyone who visits Grey Fox Blog a Very Happy Christmas. The last year has seen huge opportunities and changes for the blog and I'd like to thank you all for being so much part of its development.

There's much to do in 2016. The blog is still a one-man band. I'm still struggling with the question of commercialisation and blog independence, but now have the makings of an answer; keeping the editorial content quite separate from the advertising and sponsored sections.
Finding the time to do everything is a huge challenge, but that's inevitable were one man fills every role from editor, columnist, designer, stylist, photographer to tea maker and blog model. However, I'd particularly like to thank personal stylist supreme, Sarah Gilfillan, for her support, suggestions and role as sounding board for ideas for the blog. I've learned much about style and menswear from her.

My search for style is as incomplete as it was when I started the blog four years ago. I feel progress is being made in tempting brands to advertise to the older man, but the fashion establishment remains firmly youth-orientated, despite social and economic changes throwing emphasis on the older demographic. Strangely the financial attractions of the older market remain overlooked. I continue to work on this in my small way. Age is cool and experience brings confidence and style - let's show the world that's the case.
I welcome comments and suggestions, whether here on the blog, by e-mail, or on Twitter and Instagram. Please get in touch and follow on other social media to get a full picture of what Grey Fox is up to.
I love the blog, but really need a break. I'm going to take some time off before London Collections:Men starts in early January. Please have a browse around the blog while I'm away - there are nearly 1000 posts to explore.
Please stick with me and join the adventure of seeing where we go in 2016. Happy Christmas to you all!
Thank you for another year of your excellent blog, one of the best - you definitely deserve a break.
ReplyDeleteRegarding future direction and commercialisation, some good thoughts on this from Simon Crompton in his Permanent Style blog.
Have a great Christmas and best wishes foe the New Year, I look forward very much to reading Grey Fox in 2016.
Wishing you all the best and hoping your blog goes from strength to strength.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas and a Happy New Year to you. Enjoy your break you deserve it. Look forward to continuing the journey next year.
ReplyDeleteMerry Christmas David, and thanks for a great year.
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your break (but make sure you come back). I'm now a fan of Spoke and Jigsaw Menswear particularly as a result of your blog (and have a wish list of quite a few more brands!) Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. Rich (age 43).
ReplyDeleteBest wishes to you for Christmas and 2016. Really enjoy the blog and how it is developing.
ReplyDeleteMany thanks to you all and I look forward to hearing from you all in 2016. Stay stylish!

ReplyDeleteMany thanks for your Christmas wishes and the same sentiments returned to you.
I only discovered your blog by chance earlier this year and am now an avid reader. Thank you for all the effort you put into it and the depth of information you relay - long may it continue please. It would be great if some of us devotees got the chance to meet you in the future.
Enjoy your well-earned rest.
Very best regards,
Snapper
Dear Snapper, many thanks for your kind comments; it's always a pleasure to hear from readers. I've met many readers over the years and am always glad to meet for a coffee.
ReplyDeleteI also have long term plans for a Grey Fox readers' event - but don't hold your collective breath ;)
Happy New Year to all.
GF
I agree with the positive sentiments above: you may say your search for style is incomplete but you've helped a lot of us move forward. Please keep going.
ReplyDeleteI happened on your blog this year and am an avid reader.
ReplyDeleteMy take is a bit different in that I am transgender, FTM, just transitioning now in my 60's. Learning how to dress properly and stylishly is one of my priorities. Thank you very much for all the excellent advice and suggestions.
Would love to take you up on your coffee offer, but sadly, am in US.
Best wishes for the New Year,
James in Delaware
Thanks you all again and particularly to you, James. It's a privilege to feel I may be able to help. If you or anyone would like to comment or get in touch with any questions or suggestions, please e-mail me through the blog.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year, James.

Thanks for the mention David! I've also learnt a lot from you and have come to know about many different brands thanks to your blog, which I can then pass on as useful information to my clients.
ReplyDeleteIt's been an absolute pleasure to work with you this year and I look forward to working on many more projects in 2016.
Happy New Year to you and your readers!
Sarah :-)
Thank you Sarah. I too look forward to working with you this New Year - I feel it will be as exciting as last year in terms of developments.
ReplyDeleteHappy New Year.
