Richard James SS18: The Move Away from Slim and Skinny

Sunday, 25 June 2017

The Richard James SS18 (Spring/Summer '18) presentation at London Fashion Week Men's this month showed how the trend away from slim and skinny fits is beginning to take hold among off-the-peg brands. Inspired perhaps by those who follow vintage menswear fashion, the movement started among a few London tailors and one or two brands such as E Tautz. While Richard James cuts aren't yet very full and fifties in style, they display a more comfortable approach to tailoring - ideal for summer.

Richard James have followed the British menswear industry's attitude towards the older consumer by using exclusively younger models at their presentation. But don't let that put you off; these styles would suit any age of man and I'd love to try them out myself.

Hallelujah! All of the items you show here look sharp, but I am particularly drawn to the two double-breasted suits. The lines are great.

    Best Regards,

Not a moment too soon. Skinny trousers and trilbies, begone!
