Lisa Taylor of Taylor Red is a young milliner who makes hats for both men and women. She's too modest to say so, but she's made hats for some very important people and I was delighted when she offered to make a cap and fedora for me. As she told me. "Put a man in a hat and he becomes suddenly more interesting".
I asked her to make the hats from a length of Harris tweed that I was given by Harris Tweed Hebrides on my visit to their mill in Shawbost last year and she kindly agreed. This cloth was also used by Brita Hirsch to make me a bespoke Norfolk jacket ( all links below).

Lisa made a cap and a fedora, basing the shapes on existing favourites and adding some twists of her own. Needless to say, they fit perfectly and are beautifully made.

We think of millinery and bespoke hats as being mainly a women's market, but for men the chance to wear a hat made to our precise specifications and materials, maybe using a favourite cloth, is an opportunity not to be missed. Lisa is a delight to work with, enthusiastic and knowledgable. If you'd like to join the select club of men who've had made bespoke hats made by Lisa Taylor, you can contact her through her website here.
