British-made - Grey Fox's list of suppliers of UK-made menswear and accessories
Sunday, 18 August 2013
I have started to curate a list of suppliers of UK-made menswear and accessories here on the blog. Click on the British-made tab above to see the list.
Please contact me with additions and suggestions for inclusion.
I have mentioned Albam as a good British produced brand before.
I was looking at the website for a an American shop called Unionmade, there they had some awesome ,but pricey, ties and Pockets squares from the British brand Alexander Olch. I have seen them on Mr Porter but nowhere near such an extensive collection. these products seem to exemplify your maxim of classic with a twist.
Loft who are based in N.Ireland do some great linen scarves.
Inis Meain make fantastic knitwear, once again very pricey but pretty fabulous
As far as I can see Alexander Olch is US. Loft seems to supply womenswear so I need more information to include them in a menswear list.
Inis Meain looks wonderful, producing beautiful knitwear. They are, however, outside the UK (being in Rep. of Ireland) and I need to be strict about my criteria or I'll get totally bogged down!
Unbranded Apparel use Indian fabric to make T shirts and hoodies. They're wholesale only but it's easy for small shops to buy the stock so they should crop-up on the net. All small wholesale is via an online wholesaler.
Aikon Europe's former Manchester Hosiery business in Hinckley weave cotton eyeletted or mixed fibre tubular underwear, including upmarket wool mixes and thermals. Their brands Palm & White Swan for women or Guadian & High Cross for men can be bought from stock or smaller quantities suit their cash-and-carry / internet and phone wholesaler, M Holt of Manchester. With a logon to the M Holt web site you can seach for the brands and find out how much per dozen.
Thank you Anon - I have no idea why Turnbull & Asser weren't on here, especially as I visited their factory this year - thanks for drawing the omission to my attention.

Try Loft Trading, might have not been so google friendly that. You have mail regarding Northern Goods Co.
ReplyDeleteJohn Smedley is also worth including.
ReplyDeleteThank you again for these suggestions which I will be following up.

Great list! Turnbull & Asser should definitely be included though - one of the most established British brands around and all made in England.

I believe almost all of Swaine Adeney & Brigg's products are still made in the UK as well.
