Jaeger AW15: classic menswear photographed by David Bailey

Sunday, 6 September 2015

I haven't featured Jaeger on the blog before, so was pleased to hear from them with details of their Autumn/Winter collection for men. Characterised by soft monochrome colours, classic shapes and fabrics from around the world which include British Tweed, Jaeger menswear covers both formal and casual wear.

These images taken by David Bailey of model James Penfold and they show the collection at its best. See Jaeger's website for more information and to buy.

    Grey Fox,

To my mind it does not matter what quirks designers are trying to introduce to sell their stuff you simply cannot beat time honoured classics like these. Long may they continue to last.

    Regards,
    Snapper

I've always liked Jaeger and have bought a few of their suits and jackets off-the-peg, but they've joined the slim-cut crowd. Which isn't for me, as I've commented before. I've recently had a suit made by Hemingways, and when measuring me Toby Luper commented that I've been buying suits too big in the waist and chest to accommodate my (slight) paunch.
It's time the designers of clothes for grown ups realised that, with the exception of Grey Fox and a few others, middle aged men do tend to have a slight paunch, and return to a more generous cut.

"Too big in the waist and chest" I meant shoulders and chest. It's the waist that is the problem.

Thanks all. I'm afraid I haven't tried the Jaeger stuff - I think slim and mean cuts are generally going to fade out and brands like E Tautz are showing a more classic and comfortable way forward with looser cuts - we shall see!
